The Company
. . . is a FTSE 250 listedcompany which, in 2008, was the best performing share on the London Stock Exchange and, in 2009, was nominated PLC of the Year by the Financial Times
The company has licences from and is regulated by both Ofgem and Ofcomand as such they are the only 'one stop shop' supplier in the UK of both energy and telecommunications. It is over 90% British owned, shares being held primarily by the Directors and members of the Distributor Network.
The company has been trading since 1996 and floated on the Exchange in 2000.
Turnover last year was in excess of £300m and the company currently supplies over 300,000 customers (Club Members) with just under 1 million services. This is expected to double within the next 18 months to 2 years.
The company has traded in profit for several years (approx £20m) and holds cash reserves of between £25m and £35m at any time.
Over the past four years the Company has been regularly recommended by the UK's leading consumer magazine as "Best Value for Money", "Best Customer Service", "Best for overall customer satisfaction" and "Best Buy" for all the services that have been surveyed.
The company is based in North London in two office complexes and employs approx 450 personnel as permanent staff. The company does no national media advertising and has no high street presence which reduces costs and therefore providesa cheaper deal for the customer.
The Distributor Network
Instead, the company relies on an organic network of independent Authorised Distributors to undertake its primary sales and marketing function. All these distributors are businesses in their own right and generating independent incomes, which can be very substantial. The business opportunity consists of promoting the Company's products & services and teaching others to do the same.
This is a system of 'referral' or 'network' marketing - it is not a 'pyramid selling' scheme (which is illegal in the UK) as distributors are not in any way involved with the contract between the Company and the members/customers they introduce.
All service provision and billing etc. is carried out by the Company directly with the members/customers and distributors are paid a commission by the Company based on the monthly spend of the members/customers they have introduced.
Distributors receive no payment of any kind for introducing other distributors into their team but they do receive a small commission based on the monthly spend by the members/customers their team members have introduced.
